Sanlam Investments’ Heidi Stiger wins South Africa PA of the Year 

September 2017

PAFSA, The South African Professional Association for Secretaries and Administrative Assistants, announced on 6 September that Heidi Stiger, Executive Assistant to Raymond Schkolne:  Chief Human Resources Officer at Sanlam Investments, was awarded the title of South Africa’s PA of the Year 2017.  This award was presented to her by current Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, at a stylish event at The Sun Time Square in Pretoria. 

Says winner of the award Heidi Stiger “I am incredibly honoured to be the recipient of this prestigious award and would like to thank PAFSA for their role in recognising the importance and diversity of the PA profession in South Africa.

My manager has been so supportive and I am grateful for the scope he has given me to grow and develop my role. I am proud to have this opportunity to represent my company and fellow PAs, and also look forward to being part of this amazing network of professionals.”

On hearing the news, Chief of Human Resources Raymond Schkolne said, “Heidi stands out as an excellent role model for all people in the workplace, most especially her living the values of the company shines through. She has deep expertise and delivers consistently with great attention to detail. Over the years I have come to tremendously value Heidi’s distinctive flair and initiative applied to a range of projects outside of the Personal Assistant’s usual scope. I have grown to trust her quick decisiveness and judgement applied to any number of tasks, from the basics to more complex projects and initiatives.  I am therefore delighted that Heidi has been recognised, last year as the Sanlam Group PA of the year and now as PAFSA’s PA of the year for 2017.”

Organisers of the Award, PAFSA, say that to get to the finals of this award, the successful nominees had to answer two questionnaires that were assessed by a panel made up of their peers. On Secretaries day, Wednesday 6 September, had to face a final panel made up by industry experts and answer their questions in front of an audience of 2 00 PAs attending the morning PA Summit.

Heidi was elected for her exceptional combination of skills; her elevated intellect, sharp mind, her ability to articulate herself well, as well as her obvious passion for her role and her profession.

The PA of the Year Award clearly sets standards, raises standards and elevates the excellence bar of the secretarial and Admin profession, and to receive such an award is high praise indeed. Winners are elevated to the top of their professions and are critical to ensuring the survival of their profession through their demonstrated high standards of commitment and excellence.
